The Board convened with the following members present:
Mr. John L. Pressly, Chairman; Dr. Stanley C. Baker, Jr., Vice
Chairman; Mr. Melvyn Berlinsky, Dr. Charles B. Hanna,
Dr. E. Conyers O'Bryan, Jr., Dr. Harrison L. Peeples, Dr. John
M. Pratt, Mr. Harlon Riggins, Dr. Thomas C. Rowland, Jr.,
Mr. Phillip D. Sasser, Senator J. Verne Smith, and Mr. Allan
E.   Stalvey.
Others present were: Dr. James B. Edwards, President;
Mr. Stephen L. Jones, Executive Assistant to the President;
Dr. Gilbert Bradham, Vice President for Clinical Affairs;
Dr. J. William Smith, Vice President for Administration; and
Mr. Marion E. Woodbury, Vice President for Finance. Also in
attendance were: Mrs. Agnes Arnold, Mr. Lynn Beasley, Mr. John
Burchfield, Mrs. Polly Eells, Mr. Hugh Faulkner, Mrs. Judy
Finuf, Mr. John Landis, Mr. Howard Lundy, Mrs. Charlene
McCants, Dr. William A. McLees, Dr. James Martin, Mr. William
M. Matthew, Mr. James Salvo, Mr. Stuart Smith, Mr. Tony von
Kolnitz,   Dr.   Wayne  Weart,   and  Mrs.   Mary Anne  Willson.
The following deans were present: Dr. Richard Dobson, College
of Medicine; Dr. William Golod, College of Pharmacy; Dr. Arthur
Haisten, College of Dental Medicine; Dr. Faith Hohloch, College
of Nursing; Dr. Benjamin Lawson, College of Allied Health
Sciences; Dr. Ramsey Mellette, Division of Continuing
Education;   and   Dr.   John   Zemp,   College   of   Graduate   Studies.
Item  1.       Call  to  Order—Roll  Call.
There being a quorum present, the meeting was called
to order at 10:00 a.m. The roll was called. Senator
J.   Verne   Smith  gave  the   invocation.
Representatives of the news media were recognized and welcomed
to the Board meeting, as was Mr. John Burchfield, President of
the  Student  Government  Association.
