9 t MINUTES Medical University of South Carolina Board of Trustees Charleston, South Carolina Board of Trustees Room Administration Building February 11, 1994 The Board convened Friday, February 11, 1994, with the following members present: Dr. Thomas C. Rowland, Jr., Chairman; Mr. Melvyn Berlinsky, Vice Chairman; Dr. Stanley C. Baker, Jr., Dr. Carroll V. Bing, Jr., The Honorable M. J. Cooper, Dr. Cotesworth P. Fishburne, Jr., The Honorable Herbert C. Granger, The Honorable Robert C. Lake, Jr., Dr. E. Conyers O'Bryan, Jr., Mrs. Claudia W. Peeples, Dr. Harrison L. Peeples, the Honorable Phillip D. Sasser, Mrs. Patricia T. Smith, and Mr. Hugh B. Faulkner, III, Secretary. The following administrative officials were present. Dr. James B. Edwards, President; Dr. W. Marcus Newberry, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost; Mrs. Charlene G. Stuart, Vice President for Finance and Administration; and Mr. William M. Matthew, Vice President for Development. The following deans were present: Dr. Rosalie Crouch; Graduate Studies; Dr. Johnny Early, Pharmacy; Dr. Sharon Hoffman, Nursing; and Dr. John Johnson, Health Professions. Item 1. Call to Order--Roll Call. There being a quorum present, Dr. Thomas C. Rowland, Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:20 a.m. Ms. Liz Castle called the roll. Dr. Fishburne gave the invocation. Item 2. Secretary to Report Date of Next Meeting. The date of the next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Friday, April 8, 1994. Committee meetings will be held Thursday, April 7th and Friday morning, April 8, 1994. Item 3. Approval of Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the board of Trustees on December 10, 1993. Board Action: Dr. O'Bryan moved that the Minutes be approved as written. The motion was seconded, voted on, and unanimously carried. Dr. Rowland recognized and welcomed to the meeting Ms. Linda Meggett, reporter for the Post and Courier, and Dr. Johnny Early, Dean of the College of Pharmacy.
