Description | Dr. William Golod was Dean of the College of Pharmacy during Dr. James W. Colbert’s tenure as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Gold begins his interview by providing a history of the university and discussing his background, i.e., how he came to work at the Medical College, his various positions, and the atmosphere on campus before Dr. Colbert’s arrival. He discusses the creation of the Vice President for Academic Affairs position and Dr. Colbert’s recruitment. Additionally he describes the relationship between Dr. Colbert and MUSC president Dr. William McCord. Dr. Golod describes his interactions with Dr. Colbert over the years. Additional topics include Dr. Colbert’s role in the settlement of the 1969 hospital workers strike, and his role in the establishment of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He describes the impact Dr. Colbert’s death had on the university as well as his own personal feelings. |
