Call to Order,
Members present.56
The regular meeting of the Medical Society of South Carolina was opened at
7:00 P. M. Tuesday, February 23, 1971 at the Country Club of Charleston by the
Presidents Dr. Henry C. Robertson.
The following members were present:

Minutes 11/24/70 approved.
The Secretary read the minutes of the preceding meeting of November 24, 1970 and these were accepted as read.
There were no proposals for membership.
Five new members elected.
Report of Board of Commissioners.
The following candidates for membership were elected to the Societys Dr. B.
E. Antine, Dr. A. W. DeMasi, Dr. E. L. Hay, Dr. E. F. Lawandales, and Dr. S. E. Puckette, Jr.
REPORT OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES
The report of the Board of Commissionersg which follows, was read by Dr.
Bachman S. Smith, a member of the Board.
"Since the November 24, 1970 meeting of the Medical Society of South
Carolina, the following are the developments within the hospital and action by the Hospital Board
which I believe may be of interest for the February 23, 1971 meeting of the Society.
1 - The Hospital census has again returned to normal after the usual drop
at Christmas. Overall hospital operations continue to show a surplus.
