Minutes of Regular Meeting of the Medical Society of South~~Carolina, Tuesday, January 13th, 1948, at 8:30 P.M. at Roper Hospital. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CALL to Order. The meeting was called to order by the President, Dr. Joseph I. Waring. Members present: Roll Call: Drs. Addlestone, R. J. Baker, Banov, Banov,Jr., Beach, Beckman Boette, Bold. Buist. Cain, Chamberlain, Clement, Coleman, Davis, de Saussure, Fouche' Herring, Jenkins, Kinard, McInnes, Malcolm, Mood, Mood, Jr., Murdoch, O'Driscoll Parker, Parks, Pickett, P. R. Price, Wm. H. Price, (51) Pringle, Owen Ravenel, J. J. Ravenel Rawl, Reynolds, Rhame, Robertson, Rogers, Sanders, Siegling, B. S. Smith, C. C. Smith, Wm. A. Smith, Speissegger, Thomas, van de Erve, Waring, I. R. Wilson, I. R. Wilson,Jr., R. Wilson, Jr., Young. Guests: Guests present: Mr. J. Douglas Colman, of Baltimore, Maryland; Mr. Allen D. Howland, of Greenville, S. C.; Mr. F. O. Bates, Mr. John M. Rivers, Mr. Frank J. Towles. Minutes of The Minutes of the Annual Meeting, held December 16th, 1947, were read and approved. Gavel presented Dr. I. Ripon Wilson, immediate past-President, of the Society, graciously presented a gavel to the in-coming President. Dr. Joseph I. Waring. Dr. Callison Dr. Caroline H. Callison was then elected to the Society by transfer from elected. the Greenwood, S. C. (County) Medical Society. Applications, Applications for membership were received from Dr. Philip S. Cromer, Jr. and Drs. Cromer and Ball. Dr. Frederick M. Ball, and were referred to the Board of Censors Dr. B.S. Burnet. The application of Dr. Burgh Smith Burnet having been reported favorably by the Board of Censors, he was thereupon elected to membership in the Medical Society. Letter from The Secretary then read a letter from Dr. Marcus E. Cox, now of Waterbury, Connecticut, who was under the impression that he had resigned from the Society. It was then moved that he be not considered in arrears and that his resignation be accepted - This motion was passed. Letter from The Secretary then read a letter from Dr. Harry H. Brill,Jr., Secretary of the recently organized Resident and Interne Council of Roper Hospital. Received as information, and it was moved that the Secretary be instructed to inform the House Staff of their support of this Council, and invite them 1/13/48. - I -
