Minutes of the Business Meeting of the Medical Society of South Carolina held Tuesday, January 10, 1950 at 8:30 P.M. at Roper Hospital. The meeting was called to order by the President, Dr. T. E. Bowers at 8:30 P. M. Members present: ROLL (58) Drs. Addlestone, F. M. Ball, Banov, Banov Jr., Beach, Beckman, Boette, Boone, Bowers, Buist, Cain, J. H. Cannon, Carter, Cleckley, Coleman, Cromer, deSaussure, Ellis, Frierson, Gazes, Gregg, Hanckel, K. H. Herbert, T. G. Herbert, Hope, Jenkins, Johnson, Linton, Mclrines, B. B. Mckee, K. T. McKee, Maguire Jr., T. H. Martin, Mayo, Orvin, Paul, Pettit, Postlethwait, W. H. Price, Duncan Pringle, Rawl, Riley, Robertson, Sanders, Scott, Scott Jr., Siegling, B. S. Smith, Speissegger, J. P. Thomas, 3. M. Townsend, van de Erve, Walton, Waring, I. R. Wilson, I. R. Wilson, Jr., Robert Wilson, Jr. and Young. The following guests were present: Drs. A. L. Chapman, Osborne, G. F. Wilson, Ely Brooks and Anderson. Messrs. Allen Howland and Wordin. Minutes of Dec. 20 The minutes of the meeting on December 20, 1949 were read and approved. Applications Application was received from Dr. G. Fraser Wilson and referred to the Board of Censors. Drs. Marshall and Martin Drs. J. H. Marshall and J. B. Martin having been approved by the Board of Censors were balloted on and elected. Committee Appointments The secretary read the committee appointments made by the President, Dr. T. E. Bowers for 1950 Advertising by Medical Society on Radio Station A letter regards advertising by the Medical Society on radio Station W C S C from Mr. John M. Rivers was read and referred to the Committee on Nominations, Policy and Public Relations. Report regards proposed Bulletin Dr. J. I. Waring made a report in regards the proposed Bulletin. He stated that the cost should run between $250.00 and $300.00 a year. He was not especially in favor of soliciting advertisements. He moved that the subject be approved by the Society and that a committee be appointed. This was seconded by Dr. J. H. Paul and discussed by Doctors J. H. Cannon and I. R. Wilson. Dr. Heyward Fouch� It was announced that Dr. Heyward Fouche had asked to be transferred to the Columbia Medical Society. It was announced that the next meeting would be purely a scientific session to be held at Baruch Auditorium on January 24, 1950. Subjects to be announced later. 1/10/50 -1-
