Minutes of Regular Meeting of the Medical Society of South'-Carolina, Tuesday, January 14th, 1947, at 8:3O P.M. at Roper Hospital. Call to Order: The Meeting was called to order by the President, Dr. I. Ripon Wilson.Members present: ROLL CALL: Drs. Addlestone, Banov,Jr., Beach, Best, Bowers, Buist, Cain, Wm. M. Cannon,Clement, Coleman, Deas, de Saussurs, Ellis, Evatt, Gregg, Hope Johnson, Kane, Kinard, Kredel, Linton, Lynch, Mitchell, Mood, (49) M. S. Moore, O'Driscoll, Parker, Pratt-Thomas, Wm. H. Price, Pringle,Prioleau, J. J. Ravenel, W. J. Ravenel, Reynolds, Wm. P. Rhett, Richards, Sanders, Scott, Jr., Siegling, B. S. Smith, Jr., C. C. Smith, Smithy, Thomas, Jr., Waring, I. R. Wilson, I. R. Wilson, Jr., Jas. M. Wilson, Robert Wilson, Jr., Young* Minutes of Dec.17,1946. Minutes of the Annual Meeting, December 17th, 1946, were read and approved. Application, An application for membership in the Society was received from Dr. Irvine Dr.I.K.Fur Keith Furman and referred to the Board of Censors. Dr.Hollifield, Dr. William C. Hollifield was elected to membership in the Society. elected. Gift of $10,ooo The Secretary announced that a gift of Ten Thousand Dollars to the Medical for free Dental Clinic. Society, for the establishment of a free Dental Clinic for Roper Hospital, had been received from Miss Josephine Pinckney. Motion to accept It was moved that the Society accept this gift, and that the Secretary be di- with thanks. rected to so inform Miss Pinckney, a-nd to express to her the thanks of the Society. Passed. This motion was passed. Communication, A communication from the National Physicians Comm ittee was read; and a motion from N. P. C. ~$25*00 dona- by Dr. K. M. Lynch, directing the Treasurer of the Society to donate $25.00 to this tion authorized. Committee, was carried. Staff Rules The Secretary announced that he had received from Mr. P. 0. Bates, Secretary and By-Laws of Roper Hospital. of the Board of Comissioners, copies of the Staff Rules and By-Laws of the Roper Approved. Hospital which had been revised since their last reference to the Society. After some discussion, it was moved and adopted that these Rules and By-Laws be approved. Nomination of Di-. J. J. Ravenel, Chairman of the Board of Censors, announced the nomination Mr.F.J.Towles as lay-member of Mr. Frank J. Towles, of Meggett, Charleston County, as a lay- member of the Board of Board of Commissioners. of Comissioners of Roper Hospital to serve until December 1951. 1/14/47. - I -
