Regular Meeting, Medical Society of south Carolina 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 1980, Country Club of Charleston The regular meeting of the Medical society of South Carolina was called to order at 7:oo P.M., Tuesday, February 26, 1980 at the County Club of Charleston by the President, Dr. R. Randolph Bradham. The following Antine, A.S. Baker, F.M. Ball, L.banov, Jr., F.N. boensch, K. J. Boniface, R.R. Bradham, L.L. Brown, W.H. Cain, W.P. Clare, G.W. Douglass, F.S. Fairey, W.B. Gamble, C.J. Geilfuss, J.F. Graves, R.F. Hagerty, A.L. Harrell, j.C. Hawk, E.L. Hay, T.G. herbert, Judith B. Hood, j.R. Ivester, L.B. Jenkins, L.P. Jervey, E.E. Jones, F.W. Kinard, E.F. Lawandales, C.W. Legerton, J.S. Metcalf, W.J. Mood, L.E. Nesmith, H. Oberman, E.F. Parker, H.S. Pettit, W.H. Prioleau, A.E. Rawl, J.W. Rhodes, M.N. Richobourg, R. Rosenblum, P.W. Sanders, S.H. Sandifer, W.H. Speissegger, J.M. Stalworth, S.D. Thomas, J.D. Thompson and Hugh Wilson. The following guests were present: Dr. Robert J. Dukes, Dr. John Hood, Dr. Margaret Metcalf, Dr. L.d. Voegele The Secretary read the minutes of the preceding meeting, the annual meeting, of November 27, 1979 and these were accepted as read. There were no proposals for membership but the following candidates, having been passed by the Board of Censors, were unanimously elected: Dr. George E. Malanos, Dr. C. J. Owens, Dr. W. Arthus Smith and Dr. D.L. Smoak. Dr. Harold S. Pettit, Chairman, gave the following report for the Board of Commissioners: Since the November 27, 1979 meeting of the Medical Cosity of South Carolina the following are the developments within the hospital and action by the hospital Board of Commissioners which I believe may be of itnerest for the February 26, 1980 meeting of the Society: 1) The Hospital census has remained relatively high. Overall hospital operations continue to show a Surplus. 2) The year end hospital audit has been completed and accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Overall hospital operations show a surplus for the year end in the amount of $1,181,826.00. In addition to this surplus, Depreciation Funds int eh amount of $935,454.00 have been funded. Per diem costs increased to $170.94. During the past year Roper expended approximately $2,378,992.00 for new equipment and for land and building improvements.
