MINUTES CALL MEETING MEDICAL SOCIETY OF SOUTH CAROLINA JANUARY 20, 1992 A call meeting of the Medical Society of South Carolina was held on Monday, January 20, 1992 at 6:00 p.m. in the Irene A. Dixon Auditorium. Dr. Haskell S. Ellison, President, presided. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a possible affiliation with Baker Hospital. A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Medial Society of South Carolina, Roper Health Services, Inc., and Roper Hospital, Inc., had been held on January 15, 1992, and the concept of MSSC's affiliation with Baker Hospital had been unanimously approved. Mr. Rogers introduced Mr. John Hales, Administrator, Baker Hospital. Baker Hospital's CPA, Roper's CPA, and Roper's corporate attorney were in attendance and available to answer any questions. Mr. Rogers showed a slide presentation which included: 1. Vision Statement 2. Fact Sheet of Baker Hospital's services/financial status 3. Advantages of the Proposal including A. Synergistic relationship and momentum to benefit community B. Not-for-profit alliance with facilities throughout the area will strengthen ability to serve more patients, and health care system will be fostered C. Centralization of support services between the two hospitals D. Bon Secours will be encouraged to loin the new Roper/Baker alliance and to plan for health care West Ashley E. 30 acres of land surrounding Baker would offer new expansion opportunities to serve north area and well as offer present services' relocation options to decrease congestion on the peninsula 4.
