The regular meeting of the Medical Society of South Carolina was opened
by the President, Dr. Henry C. Robertson, at 7:00 P. M., Tuesday, February
27, 1973 at the Downtown Holiday Inn.

Minutes approved.

Doctors Pruitt & Seltzer elected.

Report of Board of Comm. by Dr. Edward Parker, Chr.

The Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting of November 28, 1972 
and these were accepted as read.

There were no proposals for membership.

The following candidates for membership, having been approved by the Board 
of Censors, were elected unanimously to the Society: Dr. A. B. Pruitt, Jr. and Dr. Sidney M. Seltzer.

REPORT OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES

Dr. Edward F. Parker, Chairman, reported for the Board of Commissioners. His 
report follows:

"Since the November 28, 1972, meeting of the Medical Society of South 
Carolina, the following are the developments within the hospital and action by the Hospital Board 
which I believe may be of interest for the February 27, 1973, meeting of the Society:

1 - The hospital census has again returned to normal after the holiday 
decrease. Overall hospital operations continue to show a surplus.

2 - The year-end hospital audit has been completed and accepted by the 
Board. Overall hospital operations for the year 1971-72 showed a surplus of $526,488.85. Per diem 
costs for the year increased to $70.28.

3 - At the Annual Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held January 22, 
1973, Board Officers were elected for the coming year.

Dr. H. S. Pettit was elected Secretary, replacing Dr. Henry C. Robertson, 
Jr., who retired from the Board.

Dr. J. F. Graves and Mr. X. O. Bunch, newly appointed Board members, attended 
their first Board meeting in January.
