Dr.  Blalock did not deliver a Horace G.  Smithy,  Jr.  Memorial
Lecture.    He was invited to do so in 1964 by Dr.   Lucien Brailsford
and Dr.-?GeoSge £& uA*  Cik&res,  Jr.,  but was unable to accept the
invitation.
Dr. David C.  Sabiston,  Jr.  delivered this lecture in 1966,  and
I sent to him copies of correspondence with and about Dr.   Smithy
for his introduction.      This is the only lecturer I know because I have
no correspondence between the time of Dr.   Smithy's death and the
invitation in 1964.
