| Description | Wanda Roberts began her career with the College of Dental Medicine (CDM) as a secretary in the Department of Oral Surgery and Operative Dentistry. Her interview documents the growth of the CDM from the late 1960s until her retirement in 2005. In her interview she identifies faculty and describes their personalities as well as recalls her working relationships with the deans. She discusses the first African-American student, George McTeer, and the first female student, Cathy Moss, and the impact that affirmative action had on the CDM. Additionally she recalls the 1969 hospital workers strike. She recalls there being a strict dress code for students. She discusses the relationship between CDM and MUSC central administration. |
