Description	Dr. Laurie L. Brown, M.D., and Ms. Manya Greene conducted this oral history interview on December 11, 1992 at the offices of Dr. C. Tucker Weston, M.D., in Columbia, South Carolina. In this interview, Dr. Weston discusses his family, educational background, career in medicine and involvement in organized medicine. In particular, Weston discusses issues affecting the field of medicine and the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) during his tenure as the first Speaker of the House of Delegates and as President of the association from 1975 to 1976. Those issues included: Blue Cross and Blue Shield, liability insurance, the activation of the Joint Underwriting Association and the establishment of permanent liability insurance coverage, the establishment of the SCMA headquarters in Columbia, and physician participation within the state association.

Biographical Note	C. Tucker Weston was born on May 24, 1919 and raised in Richland County, South Carolina. At the age of 16 he attended the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, for undergraduate studies, and graduated in 1939. In 1940, he became a student of the Medical College of the State of South Carolina and earned a degree in medicine in 1943. Dr. Weston completed an internship and residency at the old Columbia Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. He served in the orthopaedics division near the end of World War II at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Ft. Snelling, Minneapolis. After returning to Columbia in 1947, Dr. Weston joined the orthopaedic practice of his uncle, Dr. Theodore Hopkins. Weston served as the first Speaker of the House of Delegates of the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) and also as Vice President, President-Elect, and President of the association from 1975 to 1976. He married the former Polly Hancock of Charleston, South Carolina, and had five children.
