Abstract	The utilization of dietetic technicians was studied using seven hospitals in South Carolina. Questionnaires outlining nineteen (19) functions performed by clinical dietetic personnel were sent to twenty-eight (28) dietitians and twenty-two (22) dietetic technicians employed in these hospitals. All questionnaires were returned. A t test was used to analyze the data. It was found that while dietetic technicians were being utilized to a small degree, they were not being utilized fully in that the dietitians are still performing functions which are appropriate for the dietetic technicians to perform.
