Abstract	Thirty-four normal volunteer subjects participated in this study comparing the treatment effects of passive stretching versus mobilization for dorsiflexion range of motion increases at the ankle. Nineteen subjects were randomly assigned to the passive stretching group and fifteen subjects were randomly assigned to the mobilization group. Ankles to receive treatment were also randomly assigned with the opposite ankle serving as a control. Only the passive stretching treatment technique proved to be statistically significant at the.10 level of significance. The effects of the mobilization treatment technique were not statistically significant and neither were the effects of the two control groups. This study is meant ot be a baseline from which to establish further research comparing the effects of these two treatments on subjects with injured ankles or with multiple treatment applications.
